SARS-CoV-2 has caused a pandemic, with morbidity and mortality of epic proportions. In addition to the respiratory system, the infection may involve cells of other tissues and organs, leading to a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations. Human pluripotent stem cells, adult stem cells, and organoids which simulate the complexity of in vivo tissues, can be used to understand and model virus-host interactions and the resulting pathological effects in multiple cell types. These systems also facilitate screening for potential treatments.
